The Wokha district administration, in partnership with the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC), Guwahati, and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Task Force, commenced a group of women for a specialized residential skill training on Jacquard Handloom at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha on July 7th.

As per the DIPR, the initiative was directed towards elevating and enhancing the quality of the handloom weaving industry in Wokha district through efforts in skilling and capacity-building. It also aimed to provide sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities for women in the district of Wokha, reported Nagaland Post.

The training also focused on empowering women by equipping them with the necessary skills and expertise in the art of Jacquard Handloom Weaving.

During the programme held at MGNF&I/C- Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Wokha, Anuranjan Singh discussed the objectives and aims of the specialized skill training programme.

He mentioned that it was a joint initiative between the Wokha district administration and NEHHDC, Guwahati, with the goal of improving the quality standards of the handloom sector to meet both domestic and global demands.

He further highlighted that the training programme was aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) to ensure a quality assurance framework that bridges the gap between the demand and supply of a skilled workforce in the handloom industry sectors across India.
