Kolkata, Aug 17 (IBNS): On Aug 15, when the entire country was celebrating the 69th Independence Day, thousands of miles away in Los Angeles eight Indian dancers from 'Desi Hoppers' troupe were practicing hard to prove their mettle against more than 14 countries to win the 'World of Dance' championship.

The crew, which is led by young sensations Shantanu Maheshwari, Macedon Dmello and Nimit Kotian has created history by winning the mecca of dance championship ‘World of Dance’ and made the country proud. The Indian crew not only impressed the judges, but also the live audiences as well and won ‘Crowd Favourite’ title as well.

The first ever Indian troupe to represent the country at the World of Dance championship,  ‘Desi Hoppers’ beat 14 countries across 34 performances in the finals.

Judges were impressed with their energy and unique dance moves, which had a mix of Indian dance moves seamlessly merged with international dance styles to give their performance an edge. Their power packed performance left not just the audience but also the co-contestants mesmerized and in awe.

Immediately after winning the prestigious dance competition, bindass Naach trio – Shantanu, Macedon and Nimit, said, “At this point, it is difficult to explain our feeling in words, but definitely it is a proud moment for not just us but for the entire country. bindass Naach started as a dream and we never thought that we will reach this far. There couldn’t be a better timing to win the WOD the very next day to our Independence Day. This is our tribute to the country. We hope that this win will definitely inspire many young Indians and give them a message that if you can dream, you can achieve them too.”

Commenting on the extraordinary feet achieved by bindass Naach crew, Vijay Subramaniam, Vice President - Content & Communication, Media Networks - Disney India, said “I would like to congratulate the entire crew for this rare achievement. We never treated NAACH as just another show, it's more of a philosophy that is centered around a dream of three boys (Shantanu, Nimit and Macedon). We are feeling ecstatic and proud to be part of their dream. This is not just another win, but an achievement that would open a window of opportunities for young India.”
