B.Tech student's Smart Soil Health Monitoring system bags 1st prize at Heritage Institute of Technology contest

During the inaugural session, Principal of Heritage Institute of Technology, Prof Basab Chaudhuri, said, “From the stage of imitation to the stage of innovation, bringing your ideas which are ready to be implemented to find real solutions to human problems is what matters a lot and HITK is giving you the right platform for the same in today’s competition."

Projects such as water level indicator & buzzer, wireless charger for android phone, smart walking stick for blind people, mobi cooler, and an Automated Signalling System were worked upon during this year's ICCPDM.

Third-year student of B.Tech- Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering at RCC Institute of Information technology, Kushal Das, said, “We made a mobi cooler which will help vegetable traders to store the unsold vegetables."

Third-year B.Tech-AEIE student from Techno India Main, Saltlake, Suryanath Tripathy, said, “My team has made an Automatic Signaling system which will prevent road accidents based on sensor technology."

The competition was judged by Ramchandra Chakraborty, MD at TSI Metals India Pvt. Ltd, Prof. Radhaballab Bhar, ex-Professor at Jadavpur University, and Chanchal Chakraborty, Chief Technology Officer for Reliance JIO, among others.

Swarnadeep Bhattacharya from B.Tech-AEIE was declared victorious for his Smart Soil Health Monitoring and Management system.

For their Project 'Mobi-cool', an automated cooling system for vegetables, RCC Institute of Information Technology was placed first-runners up.

The second-runners up position was grabbed by Techno India Main, Saltlake, for their project on smart classroom automation system.

The competition was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra, Vice-Chancellor, MAKAUT, West Bengal as the Chief Guest followed by Dr. Jaspreet Singh, Head, MEMS Fabrication, SCL, Chandigarh, ISRO and Prof. (Dr.) Krishnendu Chakraborty, Principal, Government Ceramic Engineering College & Technology as the Guests of Honour.

Surinder Singh, Director, SCL, Chandigarh, ISRO was also present virtually as a special guest for the inaugural ceremony. The same was also contributed by Prof. B.B.Paira, Founding Director, HITK, Dr. Madhurima Chattopadhyay, Head of the Department, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Department, HITK and Mr. P.K.Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.
