France targets to enrol 20,000 Indian students in higher institutions by 2025: Catherine Colonna

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna has said the nation targets to enrol 20,000 Indian students in higher institutions by 2025.

Addressing Lady Shri Ram College students here, she was quoted as saying by ANI, "People-to-people contacts are essential... We want 20,000 Indian students in France by 2025. We're starting from something close to 5000... it is very ambitious but between India and France, the sky is the limit."

Recognizing the benefit of bilateral student mobility, France maintains the objective of 20,000 Indian students by 2025 which will create opportunities for new businesses, start-ups and innovation between the two countries.

"Our business schools are highly ranked. We are working hard for skill development," she was quoted as saying by the news agency.

Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, who is on an official visit to India from 13-15 September 2022, called on Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday.

Besides discussion on bilateral and other issues of mutual interest, the Minister conveyed President Macron’s message of friendship and cooperation to the Prime Minister, a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said.

PM Modi fondly recalled his recent meetings with President Macron in Paris and Schloss Elmau, Germany, and conveyed his desire to welcome the President in India at an early opportunity.
