Jammu and Kashmir: Higher educational institutes to reopen with limited students, 100 pc vaccination
Srinagar/UNI: The J&K administration on Sunday said that higher educational institutes can be allowed to commence class work with limited in-person teaching subject and 100 per cent vaccination of staff and students in the Union Territory (UT).
However, the administration on Sunday extended the suspension of class work in schools and coaching centers till further order in the Union Territory.
An order issued by the J&K Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, in his capacity as the Chairperson of State Executive Committee of the State Disaster Management Authority, said that all schools and coaching centers shall continue to remain closed for in-person teaching till further order.
However, it said that higher educational institutes can be permitted to commence with limited in-person teaching subject to 100 per cent vaccination of staff and students. “The educational institutes will have to take specific permission of concerned Deputy Commissioner for commencing the class work,” it said.
The said that such institutions can organize special vaccination camps in consultation with district administration. “Other educational institutes, including schools, can allow attendance of vaccinated staff for administrative purposes,” it added.
The J&K administration had in the month of April this year suspended class work for all educational institutes in J&K in view of unabated rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. The educational institutes have remained open for few months in Kashmir valley since August 5, 2019, when the Centre abrogated Article 370 and Article 35 A. Even though most of the educational institutes have been available online classes this year, students from economically weaker families, particularly studying in government schools, have alleged that they have not been able to attend classes due to non-availability of smart phones.
The order further said that there will be no weekend curfew in any district though night curfew will continue to remain in force across the Union Territory from 2000 hrs to 0700 hrs.

It said the maximum number of people permitted to attend any indoor or outdoor gathering has been restricted to 25. “All District Magistrates and Superintendent of Police (SP) shall ensure strict compliance to it,” the order said.
