Kolkata hosts Education USA Fair for students

Kolkata, Sept 27 (IBNS) U.S. Consul General Helen LaFave on Saturday inaugurated the Education USA Fair hosted by the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), in partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE) in Kolkata at the Oberoi Grand Hotel here.

Representatives from 23 accredited American universities participated in the fair and disseminated detailed information about their institutions and programs.

These universities offer a range of academic programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels.

Speaking at the inauguration of the fair,  Helen LaFave said: "Education is one of the main pillars of U.S.-India bilateral relations."

"There is a nice range of participating Colleges & Universities providing Indian students and their parents an opportunity to get authentic information," Helen LaFave said.

USIEF-IIE Education USA Fair 2014 is an annual series which brings accredited American universities to India for face-to-face interactions with Indian students, parents and high school faculty. 

This is the second time that the USIEF-IIE EducationUSA Fair was held in Kolkata.

The 2014 USIEF-IIE EducationUSA Fair took place across five cities in India – New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. 

Approximately 5000 students across India attended the events.

Adam J. Grotsky, Executive Director, USIEF said, “The main purpose of the USIEF-IIE-EducationUSA fair is to give dedicated students the opportunity to meet and interact with representatives of some of the most prominent and selective American universities.”
