Kolkata/IBNS: Forty-nine days after it was shut due to a fire incident, Acropolis Mall in Kolkata is set to reopen on Saturday.

The mall, which is located in South Kolkata's Kasba area, caught fire at Crossword on June 14.

However, some retailers like Hoppipola, Chili's, and Time Zone will reopen after a few days.

All other brands, including Cinepolis and the food court, will be operational from August 3, IBNS has learnt.

"Almost 90 percent of the mall will be open. We received the permission from the fire department on July 29, and since then, we have been working tirelessly to prepare for the reopening," said Subhadip Basu, GM of Acropolis Mall.

"The fire safety work is also finished, and the painting is done. The inspection was conducted on July 5, and the authorities were satisfied with the results. We are now conducting deep cleaning, mock fire safety drills, and notifying retailers," Basu added.

Apart from the retail outlets, the mall also locates 99 offices of multinational and national brands.

After the fire broke out at the mall on June 14, guests and the employees who were working at several offices were swiftly evacuated.

Offices are already functional in the mall.
