Land of Buddha to host ‘International Arts Exhibition’ in December

Patna, Nov 13 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): The first edition of the week-long ‘Bodhgaya Biennale’—the International Art Exhibition—will kick off at Sujata Vihar in Bodh Gaya from Dec 17.

The event being organized by CANVAS, a pioneer art organization based at Patna, is set to recreate magic through one of the biggest art activities in the state, authorities said.

Patron of the event Chanchal Kumar, a senior bureaucrat, said the very theme of the biennale is “Urgency of Peace in Contemporary Times” this time adding art-works such as paintings, graphics, prints, video, photographs & sculptures of eminent national and foreign artists would be exhibited at the event keeping themes in view.

Besides, films and documentaries on art and artists will also be shown and interactive sessions on different topics of art—both conventional & contemporaries—by eminent speakers/artists would  be organized at the event, he informed.

“Artists as well as connoisseur of art present in the audience shall have the opportunity to interact with the speakers or artists. Thus, ‘Bodhgaya Biennale’ is going to be a path breaking event in the world of Indian art,” said Kumar.

According to him, some eminent artists such as Vivan Sundaram, Balan Nambiar, Veer Munshi, Goutam Ghosh, Himmat Shah, PR Daroz, Dhraj Choudhary, Anil Risal Singh, Prashant Panjiar, Richard Cocks (UK), Sabrina Osborn (UK), Michael Snider, (Austria), Rukkaya Sultana (Bangladesh) etc will be participating at the event. 

The Chairman of the event Ganga Kumar said artists of eminence from around thirty countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Austria, Cuba, Egypt, Finland, Spain, Turkey, U.S.A., England, Korea, Norway, Thailand and Japan would participate in the gala event.

Bodh Gaya, more popular as the land of Buddha, is an important tourist destination where millions of tourist from across the globe visit every year.
