Kolkata: Loreto College, Kolkata, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Women’s Christian College, Kolkata, and St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, to strengthen academic collaboration and institutional partnerships.

The MoU with Women’s Christian College, signed on March 6 at Loreto College, aims to promote a range of academic initiatives, including student and faculty exchange programmes, joint seminars, conferences and workshops, as well as collaborative research involving both students and faculty members.

The partnership is expected to create opportunities for academic engagement, knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices in teaching and research.

It aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages inter-institutional partnerships, academicmobility and stronger research culture within higher education institutions.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Sr Dr A. Nirmala, Teacher-in-Charge, Loreto College; Prof. Kushal Andrew Biswas, Teacher-in-Charge, Women’s Christian College; Dr Amrita Dasgupta, IQAC Coordinator, Loreto College; Dr Somnath Hazra, IQAC Coordinator, Women’s Christian College; Dr Mainak Bhattacharjee, Head of the Department of Economics, Loreto College; and Dr Mousumi Kar, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Women’s Christian College.

Earlier, on March 2, Loreto College also signed an MoU with St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, to further strengthen academic cooperation.

The partnership, based on principles of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefit, seeks to facilitate joint study programmes, research collaborations, exchange initiatives and academic events such as seminars and workshops.

It will also support the publication of seminar proceedings organised by the Postgraduate Department of Education at St Xavier’s College and the Department of B.Ed. at Loreto College.

Through interdisciplinary dialogue and shared academic expertise, the institutions aim to broaden academic perspectives and strengthen research culture.

The agreements mark an important step in advancing intercollegiate cooperation and expanding academic opportunities within Kolkata’s higher education landscape.
