Kolkata/IBNS: Percussionist and Grammy jury member Pt. Prodyut Mukherjee was presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence by West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose at the Navyug@75 celebrations at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata, on Wednesday.

The event, organised on the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw 75 individuals recognised for their contributions in various fields. Financial aid was also provided to 30 cancer patients.

The cultural programme included a poem written and recited by Governor Bose and a dance presentation by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC).

Mukherjee, who won the Global Indian Music Academy Award in 2016 for his album Rhythm Express — Moods, is known for his work in Indian classical and fusion music and for initiatives such as Green Tabla.

“I’m deeply humbled to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence. This recognition not only honours my contributions to music but also highlights the power of art to unite and inspire,” Mukherjee said.
