Rahul Bose auctions iconic memorabilia in “The Idea of India”

Mumbai, Feb 20 (IBNS) Actor Rahul Bose and his NGO The Foundation on Saturday hosted their annual auction - "The Idea of India" featuring 11 pieces of iconic memorabilia from celebrated donors who personify and epitomize the soul of art and culture.

A black tie sit down evening hosted by The Oberoi Trident in Mumbai, the auction was attended by some of the celebrated glitterati.

Some prominent donors like Pandit Hariprasad Charaurasiya, Jitish Kallat, Atul Dodiya, Usha Laxman – daughter in law of legendary cartoonist RK Laxman along with Bhavana Bawa – daughter of artist Manjeet Bawa came in to grace the event.

Others who came in to support Rahul’s initiative included Rahul and Neeraj Bajaj who lent his support as a partner for the event, Phiroze Godrej, Anil Singh, Sumeet Chopra,Tanaz and Chirag Doshi, Ayaz Memon, director Anand Gandhi, restaurateurs Malini and Rahul Akerkar, AD Singh, Ravi Krishnan, businessman Harsh Goenka, Ronnie and Zarina Screwvala and Kumarmangalam Birla with his wife Neerja.

Speaking about the auction, Rahul Bose said, “It’s been overwhelming – the massive size of Mumbai’s heart always amazes me. We exceeded our expectations and we promise to meet our donors’ expectations!”

The proceeds from the auction have been directed towards the efforts of The Foundation to create a world free of discrimination.
