Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Series, Watch9 globally as pre-orders jump 30%

The new lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, which are now available through carriers, retailers, Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores.

Samsung said early demand has been strong, with pre-orders for the new Galaxy Z series increasing by more than 30 percent compared with the previous generation.

Among the new foldables, Graphite emerged as the most popular colour for both the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8, while Pink led pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip8.

Among Samsung.com customers aged 15 to 34, exclusive colours also proved popular, with Green Shadow topping preferences for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Pistachio for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Mint for the Galaxy Z Flip8.

Built on seven generations of foldable innovation, Samsung said the new Galaxy Z lineup offers three distinct foldable experiences tailored to different user needs.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 features a redesigned form factor focused on content consumption and productivity. Its wider cover display supports everyday tasks such as messaging and browsing, while the 4:3 main display provides a more immersive experience for reading, gaming and multitasking. Samsung's new Gemini Notebook enables users to organise notes, images, recordings, files and documents in a single workspace.

Weighing just 201 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung's lightest foldable phone to date. It also introduces Flex Titanium technology, designed to improve durability while reducing display crease visibility.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands the foldable experience with an 8-inch main display, enhanced multitasking capabilities and flagship camera hardware. The device features a 200MP main camera with HDR support in full-resolution mode and a 50MP ultra-wide camera for wider shots and macro photography.

Samsung has also introduced AI-powered features including Now Nudge, which suggests contextual actions across supported apps, while Dual Recording captures both the subject and the creator simultaneously. The My FanCam feature automatically tracks and reframes selected subjects across the Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.

The Fold8 Ultra is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, supports 45W fast charging, and incorporates an expanded graphite cooling system. Despite these upgrades, it measures just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighs 215 grams, making it Samsung's slimmest Galaxy Z Fold yet.

The Galaxy Z Flip8, described by Samsung as its sleekest Flip smartphone to date, introduces a redesigned FlexWindow that brings apps, notifications and AI-powered assistance directly to the cover display.

Its Now Brief feature delivers personalised updates based on users' schedules and interests, while Gemini AI can be activated directly from the FlexWindow using the side button or voice commands. The Flip8 also features a 50MP camera, Samsung's ProVisual Engine and enhanced FlexCam capabilities for capturing photos and videos from multiple angles.

Samsung has also expanded its wearable portfolio with the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, both powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform and designed to provide continuous health tracking, improved battery life and enhanced performance.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and endurance users. Available in a 47mm size, it features an 800mAh battery, a display with up to 5,000 nits of brightness, a titanium casing and dedicated tracking modes for outdoor activities, including Trail Run. It is rated IP69K, 10 ATM, and certified to EN 13319.

The Galaxy Watch9 is positioned as an everyday health companion and is available in 40mm and 44mm variants. It features an aluminium casing, a display with up to 3,000 nits of brightness and AI-powered health tools including Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index and Hearing insights.

Samsung said the new Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches further strengthen its AI ecosystem by delivering connected experiences across mobile devices and wearables.

Availability

Beginning August 7, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 will be available across 106 markets through carriers, retailers, Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores.

Customers purchasing a new Galaxy Z series smartphone will also receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of cloud storage, valued at US$119.94, providing expanded access to Google's advanced AI models for enhanced productivity and creativity.
