Sourav Ganguly unveils audito album featuring Dona with Pt. Prodyut Mukherjee

Kolkata, Dec 29 (IBNS)  Wishing luck, former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Friday released 'Rhythm Express-Music For Dance', an audio album featuring Dona Ganguly along with percussionist Prodyut Mukherjee.

The album was released at the Behala residence of the famous cricketer.

This is the first time that Odissi dancer of fame, Dona Ganguly, lent her voice to any audito project. The album will be sent for 61st Grammy Awards.

The project was originally created by GiMA Award winning Tabla exponent Pt. Prodyut Mukherjee along with legendary Mohan Veena maestro, Grammy Award winning musician Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, who also composed the melody.

The project fetched the duo an award in the 2016 edition of Global Indian Music Awards (GiMA) for its album Moods.

Speaking about his latest collaboration with Dona Ganguly, an Odissi exponent,  Mukherjee said, "I wanted to present Indian Classical music in a different way. Over the years, we have lost listeners of classical music and I wanted to get back their attention through fusion...Dona ji is by far the best Odissi dancer I have known. No one matches up to her level of perfection when it comes to dance."

Speaking to IBNS, Dona Ganguly said, "It was a new experiment. This is the first time I lent my voice to an album. We have music in our dance routines, so we tried and experimented with his (Prodyut Mukherjee) music."
