Voluntary blood donation camp organized by Geetesh Sharma Memorial Committee

Kolkata: A voluntary blood donation camp was organized by Geetesh Sharma Memorial Committee on Sunday at Kolkata's Momin High School near Raja Bazar to commemorate the 90th Birth Anniversary of veteran journalist and eminent author Geetesh Sharma.

The blood donation camp was organised from 10 am to 3 pm during which about 100 voluntary blood donors donated their blood, according to organisers.

Roughly 31,500 ml of blood was collected and handed over to Life Care Blood Bank, located at CIT Rd, Beniapukur in the northern part of the city, they said.

At the event, former Regional Director of I.C.C.R.Goutam De commended the tireless social service of Geetesh Sharma Memorial and said that he has always had a soft corner for the underprivileged section of society and was always ready to extend his valuable material help to it from time to time.

Others who spoke on the occasion included social activist Amalesh Dasgupta, Poet Amkitava Chakraborti, Technocrat Bimal Sharma, senior drama critic

Prem Kapoor, Socio-political activist Arvind Kori, Poet Shahid Hussain Shahid, Poet and writer Dr. Karuna Pande, IRS official Anil Pande, Poetess Aarti Singh, State Secretary of C.P.I. (M) Md. Salim.

Many writers, poets, teachers, students, intellectuals were present on the occasion. Vivek Gupta, MLA from Joransako sent his best wishes for the event.
