10 IED's recovered in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 21 (IBNS) : Special Operation Unit (SoU) of Assam police on Sunday recovered 10 IED's from lower Assam's Baska district which were stored by banned outfit Jamat-ul-Mujahideen, police said.

Security personnel had launched search operation at Panpara area near Salbari in Baska district and recovered the IED's. They searched the area after the information was revealed by arrested Jehadi Nur Jamal Hoque.

"We had launched the operation at the remote area and recovered IED's, " Assam police IGP SN Singh said.

"JMB had stored at least 100 nos IED in different areas in lower Assam which was revealed by Sahanur Alom and Nur Jamal Hoque," the top police official said.

The IED's were recovered from a plantation in the remote area which were stored by Nur Jamal Hoque.

Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) had jointly launched search operation in different areas in lower Assam to recover the other hidden IED's.

The Assam police had arrested 12 persons in connection with Burdwan blast and JMB so far.

On other hand, a bomb exploded in Assam's Chirang district on Sunday evening.

Police said that suspected NFFB(S)  militants had triggered the explosion at Chapaguri area in Chirang district.

No casualty has been reported so far.
