1100 dead in heat wave in Andhra and Telengana

New Delhi, May 27 (IBNS) The scorching heat wave sweeping through major part of the country has left 1,100 people dead in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the last 10 days.
Reports said 852 people died in Andhra Pradesh while Telengana reported 269 deaths as the temperature in both states remained at 45 degree or above for a week.

In Andhra Pradesh, Guntur district alone accounted for 100 deaths while in Telengana reports of maximum number of deaths related to the heat wave came from Nalgonda.

Reports quoted state government officials in Andhra Pradesh as saying that educational programmes through television have been taken up to exhort people not to venture outside without a cap, to drink water and take other measures.
