16 Maoists shun path of violence in Bihar, say naxal movement has missed the right path
Patna, Nov 2 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): As many as 16 other Maoists in Bihar have surrendered their arms and vowed to shun the path of violence.
The surrender by rebels took place in Sheohar and Gaya district of Bihar—the state once infamous for Maoist violence, the deadliest being the Laxmanpur-Bathe in Jehanabad in which 58 Dalit villagers were killed in December 1997.
“We were tired of hollow Maoist ideology and realized that nothing could be achieved by fighting from forests. There was no social life for us and we were not able to provide education to our children. So we decided spend normal life in the society by surrendering before the police,” Bullet Singh, one of the rebels who surrendered, told the media.
Of the total rebels surrendering before the police, 14 were quite active in the various parts of the state, police said.
Police said the rebels returning to the social mainstream would be rehabilitated as per of the government policy.
