1993 Mumbai blasts case: Abu Salem convicted

Mumbai, June 16 (IBNS): In a major development, a special TADA court on Friday convicted gangster Abu Salem and Mustafa Dossa in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

The court found them guilty of conspiracy and terror activities in connection with the case.

The sentences will be pronounced on Monday.

The sentence given by the court was part of judgement given on Friday in the second leg of the trial in the serial blasts case.

Apart from the other two, the court also convicted Mohammed Tahir Merchant alias Tahir Takla, Karimullah Khan, Riyaz Siddiqui and Feroze Abdul Rashid Khan.

However, Abdul Qayyum was acquitted in the case.

Other accused in the case, which include underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, are on the run.

The serial blasts had left 257 people dead and  713 seriously injured  besides destroying  properties worth Rs 27 crore.
