2 children die, 30 ill after consuming food at Punjab home for special children

Chandigarh, Aug 2 (IBNS) : Two children have died and 30 others fell ill after eating food at a home for differently-abled children in Kapurthala, media reports said.

A 16-year-old girl died on Monday late night while a 14-year-old boy died  at a hospital  on Tuesday morning. 25 children and five adults are still undergoing treatment.

Reports quoted health officials as saying that the  the children complained of stomach pain and started vomiting after consuming food on Monday. The  authorities reportedly  approached the health officials only after condition of the children started deteriorating on Monday early morning.

An inquiry into the incident has been ordered.

A health team visited the ashram and collected food and water samples.
