2nd Nagaland Honey Bee day celebrated

Guwahati/IBNS: The 2nd Nagaland Honey Bee Day was celebrated on Thursday at the Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima with the theme ‘Save Bee Save Life’.

The program was organized by Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) with support from North East Council (NEC).

Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy attended the function as the Chief Patron and expressed his gratitude to the pioneer of Nagaland Honey Bee Mission for successful beekeeping activities.

He also urged NBHM to give more effort to continue on mission for more production of honey and to make Nagaland a Honey destination.

Joint secretary APC Cell and SPD FOCUS IFAD, S. Tainiu Khiam in her short speech expressed her gratitude to the State Government for declaring December 5 as the Nagaland Honey Bee Day.

Earlier, Chief Patron also gave away the State Level and District level Best Beekeepers and Best Village Beekeeping committee with a cash prize of Rs 10000 and citations on the occasion of the second Nagaland Honey Bee Day.

To mark the occasion a short documentary film was screened on rearing of stingless bees in Nagaland title 'My Bees are Stingless'.

Nagaland governor R.N.Ravi also visited the Heritage and interacted with the bee farmers and officials.
