Poonch (J&K): Three jawans were martyred and three injured while fighting terrorists after the attackers ambushed a military truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch on Thursday, media reports said.

This is the second incident of terrorist attack on the army in the region within a month.

According to reports, additional forces have been deployed to the location of the ambush, where ongoing gunfire has been reported.

The encounter started after terrorists ambushed two army vehicles passing through Dera Ki Gali in Rajouri's Poonch region, at 3.45 pm today.

The terrorists opened fire on police vehicles, which included a truck and a Gypsy.

Media reports said quoting sources that the army truck was attacked at Dera Ki Gali, also known as DKG, in the Surankote area of Poonch.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot to track down the terrorists, ambulances have been dispatched to assess and attend to the injured army jawans.

The jawans were travelling from an area near Bufliaz, where a cordon-and-search operation against terrorists has been ongoing since Wednesday night.

On the intervening night of December 19 and 20 in the Surankote area, an explosion took place inside an armed police unit compound in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Some windows of the vehicles parked nearby were shattered under the impact of the explosion.
