36 students of Pune Madrassa sexually abused, Maulana arrested

Pune, July 29 (IBNS): In a shocking case that follows close on the heels of a Bihar episode, 36 students of a Madrassa in Pune were alleged victims of sexual assault, said police who rescued the girls on Friday.

The incident happened in Pune's Katraj suburb in Maharashtra.

With the police launching an investigation into the case, the Maulana of the Madrassa has been arrested on the charges of sexual assault on 36 students, said reports.

A case has been launched against the Maulana as well.

The police also informed the media that further investigations are underway in connection with the case.

The Madrassa teaches students from 5 to 14 years.

This comes shortly after it was revealed that 34 minor girls at a Government shelter house in Bihar's Muzaffarpur were raped and physically tortured daily making the news one of the most horrific incidents in the country in recent times.
