New Delhi/IBNS: A number of Air India staff members, including five pilots, have tested positive for coronavirus, said a media report.

A total of 77 pilots of the airline were tested on Saturday, after which the five pilots were found to be infected, said an NDTV report.

An engineer and a technician have been also found coronavirus positive, the report added.

Air India has been operating through the lockdown period rescuing Indians from the countries worst affected by the virus, transporting relief material, medical aid and now ferrying passengers back to India from other Covid-hit countries in what is possibly the biggest rescue operation since Gulf war.

Pilots are the latest frontline workers to be hit by the deadly virus. So far, 100 healthcare workers, more than 500 security personnel have been infected by novel coronavirus in India.
