Jhansi (UP): A 50-year-old man was rescued, and three people, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly setting up a honeytrap and kidnapping him for ransom, media reports said.

The man, Lallu Chaubey from Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur, had been held captive in Jhansi since Thursday, with his captors demanding Rs 3 lakh for his release, NDTV reported, citing police on Saturday.

The investigation began after Chaubey’s son filed a complaint, reporting his father’s kidnapping and receiving a ransom call.

According to the police, Rs 1 lakh of the amount demanded had already been paid.

Multiple police teams were deployed to track down the man, with a constable posing as Chaubey's son to deliver the ransom.

One of the suspects led the officer to the location where Chaubey was being held.

Several police teams then swiftly moved in and rescued Chaubey and arrested the three suspects—Kiran (35), Akhilesh Ahirwar (30), and Satish Singh Bundela (27).
