63 insurgents of four militant groups surrender in Guwahati

Guwahati/IBNS: A total of 63 insurgents of four different militant groups of the state on Monday laid down their arms and returned to the mainstream.

The insurgents had laid down their weapons before Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and other senior officials of Assam government, Assam police and Indian army at an arm laying down function held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Out of the 63 insurgents, 18 insurgents are belonging to ULFA-I led by its Deputy C-in-C Dristi Rajkhowa alias Manoj Rabha, PDCK C-in-C Onn Teron alias Nokbe, 13 insurgents of DNLA and 32 insurgents are from UPRF.

The insurgents deposited 14 numbers of AK series rifle, one M-20 semi automatic rifle, 15 numbers of pistol, two 9 mm carbines, one lethod gun, 20 numbers of lethod shells, radio handsets, large number of ammunition.

Earlier, on January 23 this year, a total of 644 insurgents of eight militant groups surrendered in Guwahati and they had deposited huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives.
