750-bed AIIMS sanctioned for Tamil Nadu

Chennai, June 20 (IBNS): The state of Tamil Nadu is all set to get an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which will be located in Thoppur near Madurai.

According to reports, the 750-bed teaching hospital will be spread over an area of 200 acres.

About 100 MBBS students and 60 nursing students will have opportunity to study in this facility.

The budget sanctioned for the project is Rs 1,500 crores.

The Centre has requested the state government to provide the land, water supply, electricity and four-lane road connectivity for the establishment of AIIMS.
