A cruel twist of fate has snatched away from us a prolific and talented actor: Modi tweets on Puneeth Rajkumar's death

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mourned the death of  Kannada filmstar "Appu" Puneeth Rajkumar and said the cruel twist of fate has snatched away his life.

"A cruel twist of fate has snatched away from us a prolific and talented actor, Puneeth Rajkumar. This was no age to go. The coming generations will remember him fondly for his works and wonderful personality. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti," Modi tweeted.

Kannada filmstar "Appu" Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on Friday after suffering a massive heart attack, a hospital here said.

The 46-year-old actor was taken to Vikram hospital in Bengaluru at 11.30 am and immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Emerging from Vikram Hospital, KPCC President and Congress leader DK Shivakumar condoled his death by saying that he was deeply shocked at the death of his good friend.

A huge crowd gathered outside the hospital waiting for the medical bulletin, and loud wails could be heard through the city as the announcement was made that the Sandalwood actor was no more.
