A day after sidelining Yadav, Bhushan, Kejriwal goes on furlough

New Delhi, Mar 5 (IBNS) A day after party's founding members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were sidelined, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday left for Bengaluru on a ten-day leave for naturopathy treatment.

Kejriwal skipped the party's national executive meeting that decided to remove Yadav and Yogendra- his two bitter critics- from the party's political affairs committee (PAC).

Both leaders had repeatedly criticised Kejriwal for his way of functioning and complained about lack of internal democracy.

Kejriwal loyalists accused Yadav and Bhushan of conspiring to unseat him.

A day ahead of the national executive meet, Kejriwal refused to be drawn into the conflict within the party. "I am deeply hurt and pained by what is going on in the party... I refuse to be drawn in this ugly battle," he had tweeted on Tuesday.

Kejriwal declared that he would not be present at the national executive meeting. This gives rise to speculations in political circles that he deliberately skipped the meeting to stay away from the process of removing  Yadav and Bhushan from the key panel.

Before Wednesday's meeting, Kejriwal offered to resign as party chief saying he was "overburdened with work" and would not be able to handle both of the jobs in the government and in the party.

The unrest within the AAP comes days after the party recorded a resounding victory in the Delhi assembly elections winning 67 of the 70 seats.
