Aam Aadmi Party kicks off election campaign

New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS): Aam Aadmi Party kicked off their election campaign by saying that they will make Delhi a world-class city.
With Delhi headed for re-election again, Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP on Tuesday jumped into the scene again to garner support ahead of forthcoming polls.

As Union Cabinet cleared the decks today for fresh elections in Delhi, Kejriwal in a press conference asserted that they will fullfill their work which they left eight months ago.

AAP leaders admitted that main challenge will come from BJP.

"We will win elections in Delhi no matter how hard BJP tries. The people of Delhi have waited for eight months for elections. They have to choose whether they want Arvind Kejriwal or Jagdish Mukhi as chief minister," said AAP leader Manish Sisodia.

"Congress is insignificant in this election," he added.

As a matter of fact, AAP took the support of Congress to form the Government in last December, which lasted for only 49 days.

Kejriwal said that AAP did unprecedented work in its short previous term. The party promised to make Delhi corruption-free and a world-class city.

AAP also said it would pitch Kejriwal against the Jagdish Mukhi, who according to media reports, may become the BJP's CM candidate, though the party has declared that they will not project anyone as CM candidate in the forthcoming elections.

On the other hand, BJP has already said that BJP is the people's choice this time. "The lotus will be the face of this election," said BJP Delhi chief Satish Upadhyay.

It is noteworthy to mention that BJP was the single largest party in the Delhi elections held last December, but didn't have a majority.

After it said no to forming government, the Congress helped install an AAP government with Kejriwal as Chief Minister.

The Government fell in February after Kejriwal resigned as CM. Till then Delhi is under President's rule.

Earlier Delhi's  Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday sent his report suggesting dissolution of the assembly to President Pranab Mukherjee after he met leaders of all major political players- the BJP, AAP and Congress.

The development came after BJP declined to form a minority government on Monday.

The party was asked to explore options by Jung on the behest of Supreme Court ruling, which directed Lt Governor and Centre to take immediate steps and end the stalemate in Delhi.
