AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal gets bail in alleged assault on Delhi Chief Secretary case

New Delhi, Mar 9 (IBNS): Delhi High Court, on Friday, granted bail to Aam Admi Party MLA Prakash Jarwal in a case of alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash during a meeting at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, according to media reports.

On Feb 20, Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash alleged that  he was manhandled and abused at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's home by two lawmakers of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) the previous evening, media reports said.

NDTV had quoted the top bureaucrat alleging that he was attacked in the presence of Kejriwal after being summoned for discussions on Aadhaar-related problems.

Prakash reportedly went straight to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal's residence to complain about "misconduct and abuse" by the lawmakers, including Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan.

Following the incident, the IAS officers' Association, met the Delhi Lieutenant Governor and expressed its concern over the alleged attack on the Chief Secretary.

CM Kejriwal’s office had, however, denied reports of assault and said the Chief Secretary was acting at the behest of the BJP.

On the basis of Prakash's complaint, the Delhi Police had registered an FIR against Khan and Jarwal. Jarwal was arrested on Feb 20 while Khan was arrested a day later, reports said.

Khan's bail plea is pending before the court, reports said.
