I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to be a worthy karyakarta and a reliable public servant. Thanks."

The party also fielded actor Arun Govil, who is best known for playing Hindu god Lord Ram in Ramayana serial, was fielded from Meerut.

Arun Govil recently portrayed the character of PM Modi in Bollywood release Article 370.

This year's Lok Sabha election will mark the political debut of both actors.

The ruling political outfit, however, dropped Varun Gandhi from the Uttar Pradesh candidate list.

BJP retained his mother Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur.
