Admiral Tripathi to visit USA: India, America set to boost maritime partnership

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi has embarked on an official visit to the United States from November 12 to 17 to strengthen the maritime partnership between the Indian Navy and the U.S. Navy, the Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday.

“During the visit, the CNS is scheduled to hold discussions with senior officials of the U.S. Department of War,” the ministry said in a statement.

Admiral Tripathi will also meet Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), and Admiral Stephen T. Koehler, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet (USPACFLT), along with other senior naval leaders and dignitaries.

The visit aims to review ongoing maritime cooperation, enhance operational linkages, and strengthen mechanisms for information sharing and maritime domain awareness between the two navies.

Admiral Tripathi is also expected to engage with key U.S. naval institutions and operational commands, with discussions focusing on shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific region and collaboration under multilateral frameworks such as MILAN and the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).

“The visit underscores the Indian Navy’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the U.S. Navy towards realizing a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific,” the ministry added.

The visit comes amid recent trade tensions between India and the United States following tariff measures introduced by the Trump administration.
