After Irani, Congress questions Munde's qualification
New Delhi, June 1 (IBNS): After a row over Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani's educational qualification, the Congress has now questioned Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde's degree.
"Social media is discussing the big achievement of BJP leader & RD Minister Mr Munde? He graduated in 1976 from a college established in 1978," Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad tweeted.
Defending his qualification, Munde told reporters: "I have done a B. Com and a BGL. I did an LLB for two years from the ILS College. However, it is not the college that issues the degree certificate, it's Pune University."
According to the affidavit submitted by Munde for the Lok Sabha elections, now available on the Election Commission website, Munde claimed that he did his Bachelors degree from New Law College, Pune in 1976.
But the college was established in 1978.
Earlier, Congress leader Ajay Maken sparked a political controversy by questioning Smirit Irani's education qualification.
"What a Cabinet of Modi?HRD Minister (Looking after Education) Smriti Irani is not even a graduate!Look at her affidavit at ECI site pg 11!" tweeted Maken.
"Media which went on an overdrive in analysing all UPA ministry formations, should conduct a fair assessment even now," he posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Following the row, the Delhi University (DU) suspended its five officials for allegedly leaking Irani's educational qualifications.
