After LK Advani, PM Modi, Amit Shah now meet Murli Manohar Joshi after BJP's victory

New Delhi, May 24 (IBNS): After calling on Lal Krishna Advani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah have met other party veteran Murli Manohar Joshi on Friday.

Tweeting a few images, Modi said: "Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi is a scholar and intellectual par excellence. His contribution towards improving Indian education is remarkable. He has always worked to strengthen the BJP and mentor several Karyakartas, including me. Met him this morning and sought his blessings."

Joshi did not contest the Lok Sabha elections this year. The senior BJP leader had said he was asked by the party not to contest the polls.

After the BJP scripted a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on party veteran Lal Krishna Advani on Friday.

BJP president Amit Shah was also present in the meeting.

The Prime Minister had earlier tweeted, "Called on respected Advani Ji. The BJP’s successes today are possible because greats like him spent decades building the party and providing a fresh ideological narrative to the people."

Advani, who was once the face of the saffron party, was denied a ticket from Gandhinagar in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Instead, Shah had contested and won from Gandhinagar this time by a huge margin of over 5 lakh votes.

Decimating almost the entire Opposition, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 350 seats in a 543-member Lok Sabha. The BJP alone got over 300 seats.

In several states where the BJP was expected to face a stiff fight, the saffron brigade performed in a manner that it seemed there was no contest at all. Like in Uttar Pradesh, despite a strong on-paper Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance, BJP got 62 seats and also snatched Congress bastion Amethi from the country's oldest political outfit.

Apart from maintaining its tally more or less in the Hindi heartland, the BJP made huge gains in West Bengal and Odisha.
