Kolkata, May 28 (UNI): A cabinet reshuffle in the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government is expected shortly where veteran politician Subrata Mukherjee may be reinstated to the panchayat department, some new faces to be inducted and some minsters to be sacked, sources having knowledge on the development said.

Seasoned politician Subrata Mukheree had quit his panchayet ministry and plunged into Lok Sabha poll contest from Bankura where he was defeated by BJP newcomer Subash Sarkar by about one lakh votes.

They said a file regarding the reshuffle of cabinet has been forwarded to Raj Bhavan where Governor Kesri nath Tripathi's nod was needed. Since the Governor was now out of station, the file has not returned to Nabanna, the state secretariat.

The TMC government has already effected massive administrative reshuffles in the IAS and IPS vital posts after the election model code of conduct lapsed on Sunday.

1987 batch IAS cadre Alapan Bandyopadhyay was elevated to the post of state home secretary and 11 district magistrates have been reshuffled, many of them got back their old district, some of the IPS officers, who had been shunted by the ECI, have been reinstated.

IPS Anjuj Sharma got his Kolkata police commissioner post back, Gyanwant Singh (IPS) was made ADG ( law and order) and Nishat Pervez became the new police commissioner of Bidhannagar.

Controversial former Kolkata police chief Rajeev Kumar, accused of suppressing vital information in relations to Saradha chit fund scam, was also given to his old post ADG/CID. The ECI had posted him to Union home department in New Delhi.

The state government has wrote a letter on Monday to Union home department urging to give a release order to Rajeev Kumar, who is also wanted by the CBI, so than he can join at Bhawani Bhawan, the headquarters of West Bengal police.

Sources at Nabanna said some new faces are expected to the Mamata Banerjee's ministry after the TMC received a massive jolt to BJP in the Lok Sabha poll.

BJP bagged 18 seats, sixteen more than 2014, and TMC reduced to 22 from 34 in the 42 parliamentary seats. Congress also reduced to 2 from 4 and CPI(M) drew blank for the first time since the 60s.
