New Delhi, May 31 (IBNS): BJP leader Smriti Irani, who scripted a massive victory in the Amethi seat in the recently held Lok Sabha polls defeating none other than Congress president Rahul Gandhi, has taken oath as one of the youngest in the council of ministers in PM Narendra Modi's government.

Modi took oath as the PM of the country for a second term on Thursday.

Smriti,43, said she is looking forward to work with her colleagues in her endeavour to build a #New India as envisioned by the PM.

" I extend best wishes to my colleagues in the Union Council of Ministers and look forward to working together in our endeavour to build a #NewIndia as envisioned by PM @narendramodi ji," Smriti Irani tweeted.

Smriti was defeated from the Amethi seat in 2014.

But this time, it was her turn to beat sitting MP and Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi from the Uttar Pradesh seat, which was considered as a Gandhi stronghold so far.
