Air Force Vice Chief accidentally shoots himself in thigh, condition stable

New Delhi, Sept 27 (IBNS) : Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo accidentally shot himself in the thigh on Wednesday, media reports said.

Air Marshal Deo was immediately rushed to the Army Research and Referral hospital in Delhi where he underwent a surgery. His condition is stated to be stable.

According to reprorts,  the incident took place while he was cleaning his gun.

Air Marshal Deo had taken over as Vice Chief of the Air Staff in July this year, succeeding Air Marshal BS Dhanoa, who is now the Chief of Air Staff.

SB Deo, who was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Air Force on June 15, 1979, is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
