Aircel Maxis case: Interim protection from arrest to P Chidamabaram, Karti extended till Aug 1

New Delhi, May 30 (UNI): A Delhi court on Thursday extended till Aug 1 the interim protection from arrest granted to former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram in the Aircel Maxis case.

Special Judge O P Saini extended the protection after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought three week time to argue on their anticipatory bail plea, following which lawyers appearing for Chidambaramas requested for extension of interim protection.

The agency said that its Special Director has gone abroad and it is to be seen if there would be any further development.

It also said that they have details of bank accounts which they are probing.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
