Gandhinagar/IBNS: All Gujarat ministers except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel have resigned ahead of a major cabinet reshuffle, media reports said.

The outgoing council of ministers comprised eight cabinet rank ministers, two ministers of state (independent charge) and six ministers of state, Hindustan Times reported.

The reshuffle, which is set to take place on Friday, is viewed as a strategic reset ahead of the local body polls and next assembly elections in 2027.

The new council of ministers is likely to be sworn in by Governor Acharya Devvrat on Friday noon.

The CM is expected to meet Governor Devvrat tonight and submit the new list of ministers.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda are expected to be present at the oath-taking ceremony scheduled for Friday.

Bhupendra Patel, who succeeded late Vijay Rupani, took oath as the CM on September 13, 2021.

Patel was reappointed as the Chief Minister after the BJP stormed back to power in 2022.
