Kolkata/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to arrive in Kolkata on Wednesday night for a two-day visit to West Bengal and address BJP karyakartas of south Bengal districts for their preparedness ahead of the 2021 poll in the state.

The BJP is prepping up to wrest power in West Bengal by unseating Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress in the next year assembly poll after the saffron brigade bagged 18 Parliament seats out of 42 in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

" I will be reaching West Bengal tonight on a two days' visit," Amit Shah announced on his Twitter account.

Shah is expected to land around 8:30 PM at the city airport and halt tonight at a hotel in Rajarhat before going to Bankura on Thursday morning.

"Looking forward to interacting with our karyakartas of BJP Bengal, beloved people of West Bengal, friends in Media and representatives of different communities," said the union home minister.

In Bankura, Shah is scheduled to address the BJP karyakartas of south Bengal districts and separately meet a group of senior citizens and interact with them at the venue of Rabindra Bhawan.

On Nov 6, Shah is expected to visit Dhakhineswar Kali temple and return to the city and then address party leaders and karyakartas regarding election preparedness for the party.

He is also expected to call on classical singer Pundit Ajoy Chakraborty and then dine with a family of a refugee in the city.

On Friday, Shah has a party programme at EZCC auditorium at Salt Lake where besides party leaders, will meet people from various sections of the society. He is expected to fly back to New Delhi on the same night.
