Armed miscreants attempt to kidnap top pharma boss

Hyderabad, Nov 19 (IBNS): A unidentified miscreant armed with an AK-47 tried to kidnap a top industrialist in Hyderabad from his car on Wednesday morning.

According to NDTV report, the foiled attempt took place when Vice Chairman of Aurobindo Pharma K Nityananda Reddy had just finished his morning walk at a little after 7 am in the popular KBR park in the fancy Banjara Hills area.

Reddy later told that after he sat in his car,  a man pushed his way into the white Audi from the left into the front seat, took out an AK-47 from a bag and pointed it at him.

"I told him 'if you want I will give you money', even as I pushed the nozzle of the gun towards the roof of the car and shouted for help,'' Reddy told NDTV.

Reddy said he and his brother had tried to resist the man and catch him but he left the spot after firing at their car three rounds.

The attacker left behind his AK-47 and a bag with clothes.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy said the Ak-47 had been reported lost a few months ago by the Greyhounds - an elite commando force in the state.

How the AK-47 got into the hands of the assailant, what was his motive is not clear yet. "We have several clues and hope to crack this at the earliest,'' the police chief said.

Reddy said he couldn't identify the attacker, neither he was unable to guess why he was attacked.

The incident has sent panic among the city residents.

Police is investigating the matter.
