Arms, ammunition seized near LoC in Kashmir's Poonch

Jammu/UNI: Security forces on Monday seized a cache of arms and ammunition along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral here said that based on specific inputs by police, a joint search operation was launched by Special Operation Group, Poonch and Army in the General area of Kirni in Poonch area on the intervening night of November 8-9.

During the search operation, a bag full of arms and ammunition hidden under boulders was found near the LOC.

The recovery included four AK-56 rifles, four AK magazines, 141 AK rounds, two AGL grenades, two hand grenades, two diaries, one camel bag, AK accessories and a rucksack.

He further said that initial investigation reveals that this consignment of arms and ammunition was to be smuggled to Kashmir valley.

An FIR has been registered and further details are awaited, he added.
