Army jawan martyred in Pak firing on LoC in Sunderbani sector

Jammu/UNI: One Army jawan on Monday attained martyrdom along the Line of Control as Pakistan violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked in Sunderbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

“One Army jawan was martyred in cross border firing in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri,” defence spokesman here said.

However, hours after violating the ceasefire in Poonch district, Pakistan troops fired unprovoked along the Line of Control in Kalal area of Rajouri district.

“At about 2030 hours, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Kalal area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri,” defence spokesman here said.

He said that, “Indian Army is retaliating befittingly.”

Meanwhile, one Army jawan was also martyred in Gurez sector of Kashmir and was identified as Joytiba Ganpati Chaugule, 36.

He was hailing from Mahagaon village of Gadhinglaj tehsil in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

He was serving in the Maratha Battalion.

Earlier in the morning, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.

Pakistani Army earlier on Thursday and Wednesday also violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked in Poonch district.

On Dec 9, the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire twice along the Line of Control in Poonch district.

On Dec 3, two persons including a woman were killed and eight other civilians injured as Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch district.

On Nov 29 also Pakistan violated the ceasefire by firing in Balakote sector of Poonch.
