As counter to Amit Shah, Mamata Banerjee to hold mega roadshow in Bolpur today

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will on Tuesday hold a mega roadshow in Birbhum district's Bolpur where Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a rally 11 days ago.

Banerjee, who heads the ruling Trinamool Congress, will hold the roadshow from Bolpur Dak Bungalow Ground to Chowrasta, starting at 12 pm.

From Tuesday morning, the entire Bolpur town has virtually been wrapped by the Trinamool flags and portraits of Banerjee.

Anubhata Mondal, the Trinamool's district president, has claimed over two lakh people will be present in the roadshow, in a bid to show strength ahead of the state polls due to be held in 2021 summer.

On Dec 19, Shah, who is a key member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), held a massive roadshow in Trinamool's stronghold Bolpur raising eyebrows of many, though the ruling party had claimed people were brought from the neighbouring state Jharkhand.

Interestingly, folk singer Basudeb Das, on whose residence Shah ate lunch during his stay in Birbhum, will appear in the roadshow of the Trinamool on Tuesday.

Throwing a challenge to the CM, BJP leader from Birbhum, Anupam Hazra said, "The roadshow will witness not even a portion of the crowd pulled by Amit Shah."

The West Bengal politics is witnessing a stiff contest between the ruling Trinamool and its prime Opposition BJP, which is fighting with all might to deny Banerjee a third straight term in power.
