Assam : 5 NDFB(S) militants killed, huge cache arms recovered

Guwahati, Aug 20 (IBNS) : Five hardcore militants of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit faction) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam's Chirang district on Tuesday night, the police said on Wednesday.
Security forces recovered huge cache of arms from the gun battle spot. 
 
The incident took place at Runikhata Laimati area in the BTAD district, where the militant group was hiding.
 
''When security personnel reached the based on intelligence input, the militants started firing and forced us to exchange bullets,'' Chirang SP Ranjan Bhuyan said.
 
Five militants including a top leader of the outfit group were killed on spot.
 
Security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle, 4 pistols, five hand grenades from the slain militants.
 
The deceased militants were identified as Rajiv Sumpramari, Furmailang, Rojong, Debananda and Raidang.
 
Meanwhile, NDFB(S) has called 24-hour Assam bandh from 4 am of Aug 22 to protest against the killing of their cadres.
