Assam: Case registered against 2 cops for alleged link with auto theft gang

Guwahati, Apr 20 (IBNS) : Assam police on Monday registered a case against two police officers allegedly linked with auto theft gang, officials said.

A top official of Guwahati city police said that in alleged link with auto theft racket a case had registered against DSP Moni Saikia and SI Moscow Saikia at Dispur police station.

"We had registered a case no 723/15 under sections  120(B)/212/222/379 of IPC against those officials in alleged link with the kingpin of auto theft gang Anil Chauhan, " the police official said.

Police has arrested the kingpin of auto theft racket, his wife Rita Chauhan, Assam Congress legislator Dr Rumi Nath and her estranged second husband Jacky Zakir and PSO Debabrata Borpatra Gohain.

On other hand, police had seized some incriminating documents from the bank locker of Anil Chauhan on Monday.

Police had already seized 17 bank accounts of Anil Chauhan.
