Assam cash-for-job scam: Three more officials arrested

Guwahati, Nov 10 (IBNS) : Assam police have arrested few more officials of Assam Civil Service (ACS), Assam Police Service (APS) in connection with the cash-for-job scam of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

On Friday, the Dibrugarh police arrested three officials in connection with the scandal, taking the total number of arrests to 21.

Additional SP of Dibrugarh district Surajit Singh Panesar said that, police had arrested ACS officers Gitali Doley, Badarul Islam and Tax Superintendent Sunayana Aideu, who were declared successful in the 2013 APSC examination and appointed by the state government in 2015.

Among them Gitali and Sunayana were produced before the Special Court in Guwahati and the court sent duo to 14-day police custody.

Earlier, police arrested 18 ACS, APS and other allied service officers in connection with the scam.

On the other hand, the Dibrugarh police has issued arrest warrant against 4 more officials namely Rajarshi Sen Deka, Rakesh Gupta, Rumi Saikia and Nishamoni Deka, who are still absconding.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh police said, apart from 25 officials more officials would likely to be arrested soon.
