Assam Insurgency: Security forces guns down six DNLA insurgents

Guwahati/UNI: In a joint operation security forces gunned down six insurgents of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) in an encounter in Assam today.
The insurgent group is largely active in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts of Assam and parts of neighbouring Nagaland.

The operation was led by West Karbi Anglong Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Prakash Sonowal.

Huge quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession, Assam police's special DG GP Singh said in a tweet.

In an early morning operation by @assampolice and Assam Rifles, six DNLA terrorists were neutralised in Dhansiri area of Karbi Anglong district. Large cache of arms & ammunition also recovered, Singh, tweeted.

On May 19, DNLA cadres killed a youth at Dhansiri on the Assam-Nagaland border.
Following the incident, security forces had launched a massive counter-insurgency operation against the insurgent group.
