Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says Badruddin Ajmal is enemy of Assam and a dangerous face of politics

Guwahati: Assam Finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma described Badruddin Ajmal as the enemy of Assam and called him the most dangerous face of Assam politics.

Terming himself as the ‘extremist’ in protecting Indian and Assamese culture, Himanta Biswa Sarma said,"As long as Badruddin Ajmal is there, we will talk about development, the politics of identity."

“If that made me an extremist, I am happy on that. I will be very happy,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

“Badruddin Ajmal is the most dangerous face of Assam politics. He is bringing money from the fundamentalist organization. In the name of social service he is creating a network which is not conductive of Assam culture. I think, not an individual, but a symbol of certain people, they are the enemy of us,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

He further said, “Badruddin Ajmal is trying to do something which is alien to Assamese culture and I am trying to protect Assamese culture. I am trying to protect Indian nationalism.”

Ahead of the assembly polls in Assam which is scheduled in April-May this year, Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has stitched an alliance with Congress.
