Assam police bust inter-state human trafficking racket in Hojai

Guwahati: Assam police have busted an inter-state human trafficking racket and rescued 11 women, including four minor girls, in Assam’s Hojai district on Monday night.

Police also arrested four persons including three women in connection with it.

Based on intelligence input, a police team of Hojai district had launched operation at Jamuna village area under Murjhar police station and rescued 11 women, including four minor girls, from the area.

The rescued women and minor girls are hailing from different parts of upper Assam and they were lured by the human trafficking gang with promise of jobs.

The human trafficking gang had tried to send them outside of Assam.

Hojai district police registered a case and started investigation.
